Enrique Martin Morales also known as Ricky Martin was born on 24th December 1971 in Puerto Rica. Martin started his musical career at the age of thirteen by joining the popular Puerto Rican pop group – Menudo. He worked with the group for five years and then later moved on to create a mark for himself. During his struggling years, Martin also acted in a few Soap Operas in Mexico for which he also earned an El Heraldo Award in 1993. He signed his first contract with the Latin imprint of Sony Music Entertainment in 1990 to make his first solo album.
His first album ‘Ricky Martin’ was released in 1991. Two of the most popular songs of the album were: ‘Fuego Contra Fuego’ and ‘El Amor De Mi Vida’. Martin toured throughout Latin America to promote the album. With his enormous success in Asia, Europe, and Latin America, Martin made an attempt to prepare his first English album in 1999. The album was self-titled and sold over 661,000 copies in its first week and debuted at the number one on the Billboard 200. The song ‘Livin’ la Vida Loca’ from the album topped the music charts globally. During the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France, Ricky Martin’s song ‘La Copa de la Vida’ (English Translation: The Cup of Life) from the album ‘Vuelve’ gained immense popularity.
